MCBC BUILDER
OF THE YEAR …Rick
Carr, President of Sunscape Homes, Inc., was named MCBC Builder
of the Year
for 2002. This award is presented by 35 of the top custom
homebuilders in Central Florida who are members of the prestigious
Master Custom Builder Council. “I feel very honored
to have been chosen as MCBC Builder of the Year from such
an accomplished group of builders,” said Rick.
Builders who are
members of the MCBC pledge to maintain the highest professional
standards in the homebuilding
industry. Those
who are members don’t cut corners on integrity, craftsmanship,
or personal service. Rick not only meets the strict criteria
required to be the MCBC Builder of the Year, but he is also
actively involved in all areas of the building industry.
Since 1984, Sunscape
Homes has insisted on a genuine commitment to personalized
service and customer satisfaction,
building
trust and respect for our clients and us. After building
and showcasing the American Lung Association “Health
House” for the Southeastern Builders Conference, Sunscape
Homes reinforced its long standing commitment to continue
to adopt methods, strategies, and materials for better constructed
homes that offer the very best quality of life environments
for all of their home buyers. Rick’s pledge to go above
and beyond what’s expected in custom homebuilding was
showcased in 1997 with this home. Rick said, “We are
extremely proud of our solid reputation with all types of
buyers including luxury homes, move-up buyers, young families,
and empty nesters.”
Sunscape Homes feels their membership in the Master Custom Builder
Council and their designation as a Master Custom Builder
reflects on their years of specialized instruction, their
high craftsmanship standards and their pledge to provide
quality craftsmanship and professional service.
Rick has served as
Vice President of the MCBC for the past four years and has
been actively involved in pursuing the high
standards that MCBC expects in all its activities, and he
was recently elected President of the MCBC for 2003. He is
also a member of the HBA of Mid Florida, the Better Business
Bureau of Central Florida, and the West Orange Chamber of
Commerce.
Rick has served as co-chairman of the Fund Raising Committee, and
has also been an active participant in the MCBC Custom Home
Building Seminars, and the MCBC Realtor Award Banquets. Rick
has traveled with other MCBC builders to tour various parts
of the country in order to be better informed on the different
types of architecture and the newest construction techniques
in the industry.
Rick and his wife, Karen, have been active in all
of the MCBC community service projects including the Children’s Home Crisis
Nursery Christmas Party and Easter Egg Hunt, and the Orlando
Day Care Nursery workdays spent spreading mulch, and laying
a drain to keep water off the basketball court. Sunscape
Homes also participated in building the 21 new pallazzos
at Give Kids The world, and the special events for the Children’s
Home Crisis Nursery held at GKTW Village. They have been
involved with the addition being done at the Winter Park
Day Nursery, the Kids Club Food Drive, and the annual MCBC
Toy Drive.
As a member of the MCBC, Rick has taken a pledge to live and work
to meet the standards set by the organization and remains
committed to making the promises that will ensure a better
building industry, a better community, and a better country.
“The MCBC is extremely proud to have a builder and person
of Rick Carr’s caliber on our Council,” said
Dixie Goolsby, Executive Director.
Rick sums up the philosophy for his company in this
way, “I
believe it’s all about people and going that extra
mile for someone. It not only satisfies you professionally,
but it gives you a great personal satisfaction.” For
